Reception Looking back and forth week beginging 27th November 2020

Hello all

I asked the children what they wanted you to know about this week so here we go:

  • making and eating pumpkin pie (Friday afternoon)
  • playing with my friends
  • doing writing
  • Thanksgiving story and card
  • Playing on the slide
  • Riding the bikes
  • story time
  • lunches are lovely

So this week we continued with the story of Star in the Jar and the recount of the story. I am so pleased with how the children are sounding out words and writing them down using correct letter formation. What is also impressive is how long they are sitting with me to do their best writing and how pleased they are with their efforts.

In maths our focus has been subtraction and number formation and recognition. They all did subtraction work in their maths books.

On Thursday I told them the story of Thanksgiving. I also use a cute and very short clip from YouTube and here is the link if you want to watch it with them again: https://youtu.be/faUYJ9fMiGg  I hope you got your Thanksgiving cards? Today I made Pumpkin Pie in class and we each got a small piecee this afternoon. The majority of the class loved it and wanted more and some asked if I could give the recipe to their parent. If you would like it then please email me.

They are now singing Frosty the Snowman well and I look forward to the recording on Tuesday 1st. Information about the CD and how to get hold of one is in the newsletter this week.

Thank you all for the lovely paretns evening this week. It was good to chat with you all. Please don't hesitate to email me if you have any questions or need tips for reading and phonics tubs.

Today the chidlren had a picnic lunch due to the powercut.

Have a warm weekend
