Y1 Friday 28th February 2020– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:

We have made moon juice as part of DT and written instructions for how to make this in English.

In Maths, we have counted objects up to 50 and looked at one more and one less.

We have looked at megastructures across the world and completed our polar artwork.

The children really enjoyed our ‘Megastructures afternoon’- thank you to all of our parent helpers.

Year 1 – Pupils’ Highlights:

√ Moving like an astronaut in PE.

√ Taking part in the ‘Megastructures afternoon’.

√ Finding one more and one less in Maths.

√ Making moon juice in DT.

√ Writing instructions for how to make moon juice.

√ Doing lovely handwriting.

√ Constructing our polar places pictures.

√ Listening to Mrs Bayes talk in RE.

Family discussion questions:

  • If you are finding one more, do you add to the tens column or ones column?
  • Can you think of five imperative verbs? (EG- mix, break, build)
  • Which is spelt correctly- ‘ice’ or ‘ise’? Why?

Looking forward:

We will be writing instructions for how to trap a fairy. In Maths we will continue to look at one more / one less and compare numbers to 50.

In Geography we will find megastructures on a map of the world and look at which continent they are in and explore when and how the megastructures were built in History.
