Y3 Looking Back and Forth 17/9/21

Friday 17th September 2021 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

Thank you to all of the children in Class Three for another great week. My goodness have we worked hard. We’ve loved learning about so many sophisticated words and phrases in English, we’ve completed our guided reading all about plastic and its effect on the oceans and in Maths, have extended our arithmetic skills and learned rhymes to help us remember. We have shown what we know so far as we have completed our assessments and in Geography, we worked through our pre-learning and new vocabulary based on Africa. PE was a highlight this week as the children learned about the basics of Tag Rugby and we enjoyed a fitness session based on netball passing…what a week!!!

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • PE – learning how to take the tags in Tag Rugby
  • Experiencing arithmetic and division
  • Netball passing in our fitness session
  • Learning our new wowzer words in English
  • 5 minutes a day!
  • All maths work
  • Science – learning about food groups
  • Singing assembly
  • Learning about ancient Egypt
  • Playing with my friends
  • Throwing the netballs
  • Everything!
  • Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • What is a synonym and how do we remember?
  • What does an archaeologist do?
  • Challenge Question: Whose tomb was Emily Sands looking for?

Looking forward:

We have started our spelling and reading program this week and will be continuing with this each week going forward. Our arithmetic sessions will continue too, alongside learning our all important times tables – some great improvements so far ~ well done Class 3! We will be working on our History this coming week, finding out what we know already and what we can build on and working through the exploration of Egypt. We are also beginning our exciting art project this week, based on Africa – can’t wait!

Just a quick reminder to the children who will be attending this week’s Homework Club – please try to remember your homework sheets so we can work through as many of the tasks as possible. Thank you.

Thank you again for a wonderful week and I hope that you all have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Sant
