Y3 Looking back and forth 23.10.20

Friday 23rd  October 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

This week has been an impressive week in all areas. The children have become authors and have written wonderful pieces of threat narrative, based on the Ted Hughes story of The Iron Man. Maths has seen the children conquer the pictorial method of addition ad subtraction and attempt lots of reasoning problems all about Mrs Sant – always a thrill it seems!! We have enjoyed watching the KS1 dance, based on the work of Elizabeth Fontein and their own dance. This was swiftly followed by our first study to coincide with Black History Month – we were suitably impressed by the strength of Rosa Parks and in homage to her campaigning and picketing, we took part in our own ‘No Outsiders’ rally on the playground. What a fantastic PE session we had this week too – apologies for the delivery of rather muddy children as a result. Throwing and catching rounders – so fun – who knew?

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Pictorial methods for addition in Maths
  • Showing off our Science skills with Mrs Riddle
  • The BI write - threat narrative
  • Throwing and catching Rounders
  • Watching the Key Stage One African dance and trying it out ourselves
  • Being with funny Mrs Sant
  • And…everything!

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • Can you show your family the dance moves?
  • Are you allowed to have 12 in the ones?
  • Challenge Question: What did Rosa Parks do? Sing it if you like!!

Looking forward:

As we join together again after our half term break, we will begin by showing where our skills are up to so far, continue to develop our addition and subtraction techniques, get stuck in with our Art project and start our PE dance sessions. Lots more to come that’s for sure.

What a wonderful first half term we’ve had!

Thank you, take care and I hope that you all have a lovely break,

Mrs Sant
