Y3 Looking Back and Forth 8/11/19

Friday 8th November 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

We have got straight back into the swing of things this week in Class 3 – working hard on our new English topic of Roald Dahl Books. We have enjoyed being introduced to Boggis and Bunce and Bean and beginning to write scene settings and character descriptions. Science was great fun this week as we learned more about how rocks are formed over thousands of years. We’ve cracked the Maths work that we have been doing and can now add hundreds numbers confidently and so it’s been a successful first week back!

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Times tables with Percy Parker
  • Being with Mrs Sant
  • Spending time with my friends
  • Checking our Maths work to improve it.
  • School lunches, especially Friday!
  • Looking forward to film night!
  • Starting work on Fantastic Mr Fox
  • Reading time
  • Our new room set up!

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • What are the two methods of addition we have been learning this week?
  • What does metamorphic rocks mean?
  • What are Igneous rocks?

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be continuing to find out more about British inventors and will be introduced to three new female inventors who have impacted our World. We will begin to think about our Christmas Carol Service and develop our Maths skills further to complete our addition and subtraction unit! We will also be working hard to settle quickly in a morning and be ready to learn after break and lunch to maximise the time we have.
