Y5 12.3.21 Looking Back and Forth

Friday 12th March 2021 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5

Looking back:

It’s been a fantastic first week back from home learning. The children have adapted into the routines of school life really well and I have been so impressed with them.

We have done a number of bits of recapping work this week. I have taken a look at all the children’s home learning work and given them positive feedback on the great work they produced at home. We have referred to, and used, the home learning work in class throughout the week.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We enjoyed seeing our friends and being back together again.
  • We liked Mrs Riddell’s art recap.
  • We enjoyed presenting information about bridges.
  • We liked writing our a Minotaur Rap.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children to tell you what they have learned about bridge design.
  • See if your children can remember their Minotaur Rap.

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be starting a new literacy topic based on Sherlock Holmes. In maths, we will be continuing to look at fractions. We will complete our home learning recapping and begin our new topics in history, geography and science.

I have updated the class page with the new topics of learning for this half term.

Wider Opportunities:

The children spent the first week back going over some notes that they had learned last term.
