Y5 16.10.20 Year 5 Looking Back and Forth

Friday 16th October 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5

Looking back:

This children have produced some fantastic written work this week. They wrote a brilliant formal report about the Moon landings, and today they have produced a lovely diary entry based on the WWII book, ‘Rose Blanche’.

In maths, they found multiplying and dividing by 10/100 quite tricky at first, but showed a great attitude and soon got the hang of it.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We found the science work, looking at night and day and the seasons, really interesting.
  • We liked the PSHE work based on Rose Blanche.

Family discussion questions:

  • See if the children can remember the golden rules for multiplying/dividing by 10/100.
  • Ask the children to tell you why we have night and day and the seasons.

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be writing a poem based on the Henry Moore artwork the children have been producing with Mrs Riddell.

In maths, we will be practising multiplication strategies.

In science, we will be learning about the phases of the Moon.

On Tuesday, we will be videoing a South African dance we have been learning in collaboration with our twin school. We will then send our efforts to them to enjoy!

Wider Opportunities:

There was a slight delay on issuing the instruments this week due to Mr Birch not being in school. They will definitely come home on Wednesday!
