Y5 18.12.20 Looking Back and Forth

Friday 18th December 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5

Looking back:

It’s been a great last week of finishing off work, tying up loose ends and a few festive activities thrown in too. The children have had a brilliant term and produced some really lovely work in their usual bubbly manner.

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all Year 5 families a merry Christmas and I hope you all have a nice, restful break. Thank you very much for my Christmas cards and gifts, it really is very much appreciated.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We enjoyed listening to the school’s Christmas CD.
  • We loved the pantomime on Monday.
  • We liked doing the RE work based on the Christmas story.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children to tell you what they have learned about solubility in science.
  • Ask the children to tell you the different types of angles they have learned.

Looking forward:

In the first week back we will be starting a new literacy topic based on Sherlock Holmes. In maths, we will be looking at Roman Numerals. We will start new topics in History and Geography based on Ancient Greece and South America.

I have updated the class page with the new topics of learning for the next half term.

Wider Opportunities:

I will attach new music to learn next term.
