Y5 27.11.20 Looking Back and Forth

Friday 27th November 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5

Looking back:

It’s been another great week in class. The children wrote some lovely evacuation diaries which were incredibly realistic, putting together their writing skills and historical knowledge.

We have been working on calculating a fraction of a number in maths, and the children have really grown in confidence with this strategy.

In science we conducted an investigation about thermal insulation.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We are really enjoying learning our Christmas songs.
  • We liked writing the evacuation diaries.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children to tell you about our thermal insulation investigation and what their conclusions were.
  • Ask the children what they learned about the use of propaganda in WWII.

Looking forward:

Next week we will be focusing on letter writing in our English lessons.

In maths we will be working on negative numbers.

We will be concluding our rivers topic in geography by collating the top ten facts we have learned!

Wider Opportunities:

The music the children are learning in Wider Opps sessions is attached at the bottom of the page.
