Y5 4.12.20 Looking Back and Forth

Friday 4th December 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5

Looking back:

The children have worked very hard this week. In maths we have been working on negative numbers and decimals. In our English work we are exploring some letter writing skills, before the children write their own formal letter next week.

The children were brilliant recording their two songs for the Christmas CD – I can’t wait to hear all the songs each class has recorded!

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We loved recording the Christmas songs!
  • We liked producing our rivers ‘top ten facts’.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children to tell you what they learned from the rivers topic – can they remember any of their top ten facts?
  • Ask the children what they learned about Christianity and community.

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be undertaking a couple of PSHE activities, based on coping with change and how we can work towards future goals.

In history, we will be exploring the contribution Alan Turing made to WWII.

In science, we will be designing and undertaking an investigation based on solubility.

Wider Opportunities:

The music the children are learning in Wider Opps sessions is attached at the bottom of the page.
