Y5 9.10.20 Looking Back and Forth

Friday 9th October 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5

Looking back:

This has been a great week. The children have worked hard and been so enthusiastic in lessons. We’ve attempted some really tricky maths work this week and the children really rose to the challenge.

We had a PSHE afternoon yesterday. We discussed how we pay for things and budgeting income with outgoings. We then looked at emotional responses to certain situations in school and the children produced some lovely work to go in our PSHE display book.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We really enjoyed learning how to order fractions from smallest to largest.
  • We liked the PSHE work and found it really interesting.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children if they can remember some of the Hindu proverbs we looked at.
  • Ask the children to tell you what they learned about occupied Europe during WWII.

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be analysing the features of a formal report before the children plan their own version.

In maths we will be looking at multiplication strategies.

In science we will be looking at why we have night and day.

Wider Opportunities:

Letters should have come home about the children’s instruments, they will then be allowed to take them home next week. The children are currently experimenting with their instrument and learning how to play a couple of notes.
