Year 2 24th January Looking Back and Forth

Friday 24th January 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 2

Looking back:

The children have continued writing a recount of a real event, remembering to check and edit them. In maths, we have begun learning about fractions, understanding that a fraction is a part of the whole.

We have been busy reading texts and answering questions about it in our guided reading sessions. The children also love voting for the end of the day story each day – they get very excited to find out the winner.

We have also been busy in History, Science, PE and RE. Another fabulous week. Well done Year 2!

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Voting for the end of the day story
  • Golden time treat
  • The Great Fire of London
  • Gymnastics
  • Science – making clay cows and understanding the different forces used.

Family discussion questions:

  • Why did nobody notice the Great Fire of London at first?
  • Who are the magi?

Looking forward:

  1. PE sessions Fridays (gymnastics)
  2. Maths – fractions
  3. History – The Great Fire of London
