Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 24th January 2020

Y6 - Friday  24th January 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6

Looking back:

Another week has flown by in which our class has enjoyed a range of topics.  We are continuing a little further with our class novel in English – “The Good Thieves” and this week we have been thinking about character descriptions of Vita’s Grandpa.  Maths has seen us working on strengthening our mathematical skills with fractions and with Mrs. Cooper, the class has been learning about the Neolithic period and also enjoying Hi-5 netball and fitness training.  The visit to Liverpool’s Mosque and Anglican Cathedral was extremely successful with excellent guides at both venues – the pupils were able to compare and contrast the buildings, and the way people worship.  Thank you to Mrs. Benson for organising this visit – it will really support the pupils’ learning in future RE lessons.  Please do enjoy browsing through a wide selection of photographs from this week’s learning – click on the “Display Work Items” tab.

  1. What an exciting week we have coming up – we are continuing with our regular lessons, but we have Pop UK timetabled this week (with the family concerts the following week).  Please see the newsletter for further details regarding tickets and information.
  2. The pupils will be starting their CGP Revision workbooks as homework from this week.  The will be in addition to their regular homework as we begin our revision for SATs.  Little and often is our recommendation and we will be hosting a SATs information evening shortly.  Your support with the pupils’ revision and preparation for these national tests is invaluable and we thank you for helping to ensure that your children – our pupils – are as prepared as they can be for these assessments.  Thank you.
