Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 26th March 2021

Y6 - Friday 26th March 2021 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6

Looking back:

We’ve seen a range of tasks and activities this week in Year 6.  The pupils have shared their writing from Lockdown about Timothy Winters, producing a brief publication to include their favourite part.  Mrs Timmins and Mrs Cuttle have once again enjoyed reading the children’s work and it has allowed great feedback discussions with individual pupils.  This now concludes the lockdown review and we’d like to thank everyone at home for the support that has been given to the children in order to produce such high-quality work.

The class has continued their research into the different states of North America as well as continuing their learning about Hinduism.  On Thursday afternoon, they enjoyed a class assembly with Miss Atkins and they have designed artwork for a batik project.

Please enjoy looking at this week’s photos – just click on the tab under the “Display Work Items” heading on our Year 6 page.

Family discussion questions:

  • Which US state are you researching and what is your ‘state flower’?
  • Tell me about how Budi and Timothy are both similar yet different.
  • Calculate the following where ‘y’ has a value of 10 for each equation:

5y  +  7  =

3y  -  8  =

5y  x  9  =

Looking forward:

  1. As we come to the end of the most unusual of spring terms, we will be completing some assessments with our Year 6 to assess where there may be elements to reinforce during the summer term in addition to completing a text comparing characters from fiction.  The class will continue to work on North America as well as their ICT project about spreadsheets.  Of course, we only have four days next week and the Easter holidays begin too.
