Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 4th December 2020

Y6 - Friday 4th December 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6

Looking back:

So, what have Y6 been up to this week?  Well, we’ve studied volcanoes around the world, locating the top 10 most active; we’ve studied Islam’s Pillar 2 – Prayer, and how this is important to muslims; we’ve looked at e-safety with an activity called “Don’t Feed The Phish”; we’ve continued to discuss the theme of discrimination through our “No Outsiders” work; and we’ve looked at capital cities around the world.  We’ve also worked on fractions in maths and we’ve all become a member of Ernest Shackleton’s Endurance, relieved to know that we all made it through the trip to Antarctica.

It did look like a volcano (of paper) had erupted in class on Thursday when the class had great amounts of fun making their nightlights.  Thank you to Ms. Bairstow for supplying us with the catalogues for colour and a huge thank you too to Mrs. Keeling who cleared the lava of paper for us. J

We’ve also – of course – all become recording artists this week with the wonderful Mr. Hext visiting school so that we could “lay down our tracks” with him for our Christmas 2020 CD.  A letter came home on Friday and is also in the newsletter with details of how to purchase this year’s most hotly anticipated Christmas compilation!

Excellent to see how many are continuing with the new Reading Challenge – please do your best, Year 6, to keep this going.  It’s great to see so many of you enjoying the luxury of reading for pleasure.

Fingers are still crossed for Kingswood 2021 – a reminder that the first instalment of £40 is due on Friday 11th December.  Thank you.
