Year 3 Looking Back and Forth 6/12/24
Friday 6th December 2024 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3
Looking back:
Our final piece of writing for our Jemmy Button book has come on a treat this week and we are ready to complete it next week and publish our work. In maths, we have got to grips with column subtraction and are now ready to move on to multiplication and division. In RE, we have researched how different religions and groups welcome new life into the World and have begun to add our second layer to our art collage piece. We had yet more great success with our times tables challenges this week too which is great and we loved sending messages via microbits in our coding lesson! This week, our school has been alive with the sound of music and we’re enjoying preparing for our Christmas Celebration very much.
Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Our Christmas decorations in the classroom
- Our advent calendar spinner game
- Singing in Music preparing for Christmas
- Sending messages on the microbits
- Writing our brilliant Jemmy Button stories
- Our art collages and the tidy up rhumba
- Finding out about how different people celebrate new babies
- Playing with the new obstacle course equipment
- Everything!
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- Do all religions have Christenings?
- What advice do the elder birds give to Buffy and Lucky?
- Challenge Question: What do you have to do if there is a zero in the tens when exchanging????
Looking forward:
Next week will be ramping up our Christmas Celebration rehearsals of course so lots to look forward to there. Our thoughts will also be on the Christmas Shop – so much to choose from!!! We will be finishing off our wonderful piece of English writing too next week, alongside completing our new life work in RE and looking at Advent, starting multiplication and division in maths, completing all our History work on Africa, revising all of spelling sounds and words, times table challenges and our final Microbits workshop in computing.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING IN YOUR CHRISTMAS SHOP MONEY IN A NAMED ENVELOPE, WALLET OR PURSE AND A BAG IF YOU WISH TO PURCHASE SOME WONDERFUL GIFTS.
