06.09.24 Year 2 Looking Back and Forth

Y2 Friday 6th September 2024 Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:

Well done year 2 you should all feel very proud of how well you have all returned to school! It has been amazing to see such a positive mindset and how well you’ve started to settle into the new classroom routines.

This week we have completed practical work in maths recapping addition and subtraction.

In English we discussed and wrote about our aspirations for the future.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

I have really enjoyed learning about aspirations and writing themx3

I enjoyed doing PE – I liked stuck in the mud.

I enjoyed the maths games we played x2

I enjoyed when writing my aspiration.

I enjoyed playing with my friends- we played ‘Mums and Dads’

I liked playing a ‘Minecraft’ game outside at playtime.

I enjoyed playing phonics games.

Family discussion questions:

  • Please talk about the first week back and what has gone well for your child. Discuss their aspiration and what they need to do to achieve it.

Looking forward:

  • Reading books will be changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.
  • PE will be on Fridays. Please ensure school PE kit is worn.
  • We will explore a new book to inspire our writing.
  • We will begin place value work in maths.
  • We will discuss Healthy Me in science.
  • We start discussing our Exhibition work.

Reminders-

Reading books should be brought into school every day. Children’s books will be changed weekly- usually on Mondays.

Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. Please record this in reading diaries so I can track their progress and please make a note if you think 14 consecutive days have been completed.

Drop in parent’s information evening Tuesday 11th September 17:00pm- alternatively, please email me with any queries.

Thanks for your support,

Mr Warhurst
