Y5 Weekly Update 5.5.23
Friday 5th May 2023 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
The children have worked so hard this week. We completed our stories based on survival and exploration – we then had a little lesson developing some editing skills to try and improve a paragraph of writing. In maths, we’ve continued with decimals work and have been doing some tricky problem solving questions. In geography, we looked at some features maps of South America and made deductions about what we learn. On Thursday afternoon, all the juniors enjoyed a carousel of activities based on the Coronation.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We have really enjoyed writing about survival and exploration.
- We loved the Coronation carousel of activities.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children remember the capital cities of any countries in South America?
- What did the children learn about the King’s Coronation yesterday?
Looking forward:
After the bank holiday Monday, the children will be starting to work on a new genre of writing – producing an informative survival guide. We have our last week of decimals work in maths. In Science we’ll be looking at the life cycle of a bird and the inside of an egg. We’ve been doing a really interesting topic in RE, looking at art and music in religion – Tuesday’s lesson looks at Islamic art.
Enjoy the weekend!
