Friday 14th December 2018 - Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Friday  14th December 2018 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back:

It is scary to think that the first term is nearly over.  The Year 4’s have worked super hard this term and should be proud of their positive work attitude, achievements, behaviour (which is superb) and general ‘can do’ attitude that makes them such a great class to work with.

Year 4 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Christmas Jumper Day
  • Swimming
  • Pop-up Christmas cards
  • Publishing our water cycle work
  • 5 mins reading
  • Tests!
  • Sausage rolls for lunch

Family discussion questions:

  • What were the Himalayas like for Mr Few?
  • Show me how to make a pop up card with presents?
  • How does the ladder method in multiplication?

Looking forward:

Next week we will be having a visit from our class governor, Mr Few, who recently went to the Himalayas.  The children are excited to learn about being so close to Everest. I think it will be a really interesting visit.  Please ask your children about it after Monday.

This week, we also have the annual Junior Carol Service.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Just a quick polite request – anyone coming to the dress rehearsal will not be able to get a seat before 1.50pm as there is a pre-dress rehearsal.  It can be very off-putting for the children who are rehearsing, to have people coming and getting settled.  Thank you for your consideration in this.  There will be a text sent as a reminder as well.

In maths, the children will be multiplication.  We will be continuing the work on grid method, then working on the ladder method – which is like an expanded version of long multiplication.  We will also be revising the chunking method in division.

This week the children also have their well-earned ‘Marble Jar Treat’ on Thursday morning.  The children chose through a democratic vote to have a ‘Tech Session’.  There will be a letter coming home about this on Monday.
