Looking back and Forth 1st December 2023
Y2 Friday 1st December 2023– Looking Back & Forth
Looking back: This week we have written our own circular narratives and included many features to engage the reader. We have also been rehearsing lots for our Christmas production!
Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- I have enjoyed working with my learning partner.
- I liked handwriting because it is hard and challenging.
- I liked Geography because we have been learning about the UK.
- I enjoyed writing my circular narrative because I think my writing is interesting
- I liked RE because we made our own Nativity scenes.
- I liked working with my partner because he helped me.
- I liked doing handwriting because it is helping me
- I liked doing Geography because I sorted pictures
- I liked PE because I rolled the ball.
- I liked designing my Christmas card
- I liked practising the Nativity.
- Family discussion questions:
- For science please look at the different materials you can see around the house. Discuss what properties the materials have – are they rigid, flexible, waterproof? Why do they have these properties?
- Please help your child learn their lines for the Nativity.
Looking forward: Next week we will continue to look at how houses have changed over time and will discuss the different uses of materials we can see outside.

Reading books should be brought into school every day. Children’s books will be changed weekly.
Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. Another 4 children completed the challenge again this week!
Please record this in reading diaries so we can track their progress.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mr Warhurst
