Looking Back and Forth 15th December 2023
Y2 Friday 15th December 2023– Looking Back & Forth
Looking back: This week have continued our rehearsals, compared Victorian and modern houses and used partitioning to add in maths.
Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- I liked spelling because I could spell all the words
- I liked handwriting because it is fun
- I liked using my handwriting when publishing in English
- I enjoyed maths and I liked using partitioning to find the answers
- I liked RE because we made cards about the 3 Kings
- I liked using sewing in DT to join materials together
- I liked PE because we did group work and had to create gymnastic routines
- I liked handwriting because I feel like I’m getting better and better
- Family discussion questions:
- For DT, can you find examples of how different materials are joined (eg glued, stitched, tape) around the house. Why have they been joined in that way?
- Please continue to help your child learn their lines for the Nativity.
Looking forward: Next week we will be performing our Nativity to parents on Tuesday and Wednesday. We will also be completing and evaluating our DT work.
Reminders- MONDAY morning is the last day to buy hamper raffle tickets – the draw will be on Monday at 3pm and we will let winners know when to collect their prize,
- Whole school pantomime Wednesday 20th December- afternoon.
- Christmas Dinner day Thursday 21st December.
PE is on TUESDAYS! Please ensure school PE kit is worn.
Reading books are changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.
Reading books should be brought into school every day. Children’s books will be changed weekly.
Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. Two more children completed the challenge this week!
Please record this in reading diaries so we can track their progress.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mr Warhurst
