Looking Back and Forth 17th May 2024

Y2 Friday 17th May 2024 – Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:  This week in English, we have investigated the features of a ‘banning narrative’. We have continued learning to use quarter past and quarter to when reading the time. In history, we have found out about the amazing achievements of Marie Curie.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • My highlight has been playtime because I have made potions with my friend x3
  • My highlight has been science because I liked learning about what seeds need to germinate. X3
  • My highlight has been learning about Marie Curie because it was exciting.
  • I liked maths because we have been learning about the time.
  • I liked maths because I want to about time so I can  wake up early.
  • I liked listening to the Queen Who Banned the Silence x3
  • I liked it when Mrs Carew helped me in maths.
  • I liked doing more missing number questions in arithmetic. X2
  • I liked playing football at playtime. X4
  • I liked maths because I’m enjoying it.

Family discussion questions:

Next week we will be writing a story about a King or Queen who banned all the rules. What would it be like with no rules? What would be good? What would be bad?

Looking forward:

Next week we will be writing our ‘banning narrative’ and learning about the number of minutes in a hour and the number of hours in a day.

PE is on Tuesdays! Please ensure school PE kit is worn.

Reading books are changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.

Reading books should be brought into school every day. Children’s books will be changed weekly.

Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. Well done to the 7 children that completed the challenge again this week. Please record when you read with your child in their reading diaries so we can track their progress and see who has completed the challenge this term!

Have a great week,

Mr Warhurst
