Looking back and forth 27.9.24
Y2 Friday 27th September 2024– Looking Back & Forth
Looking back:
In English, we have looked more closely at the features of finding narratives and begun to use these in our independent writing. In maths, we have explored the various ways we can flexibly partition numbers – not just into tens and ones and used a number line to add tens. In geography, we have been learning to name and locate the seas around the United Kingdom.
Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:
ü We played football on the astro turf in PE. It was fun because we had to score in other people’s goals and they tried to stop us!
ü I liked doing the Maths and the quiz at the end, even though I got 2 wrong!
ü I love Maths. I liked the partitioning work.
ü I enjoyed the fish fingers and chips for lunch today. They were very tasty.
ü I like learning about the whole world.
ü We learnt about being safe online. We learnt not to press buttons if we don’t know what they are for.
ü At before school club we played games together and it was fun.
Family discussion questions:
Next week we will be finding out more about ‘children who changed the world’- and how we would like to make positive changes, for example using less plastic. Talk to your child about their ideas and what they would like to change.
Looking forward:
Next week we will continue our finding narratives and explore the features of biographies.
We will begin to rehearse songs for Exhibition.
Reminders
Reading books are changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.
PE is on Fridays. Please ensure school PE kit is worn.
Reading books should be brought into school every day. Children’s books will be changed weekly.
Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. (Well done to the first 18 children to complete the challenge!) Please record this in reading diaries so we can track their progress.
Thanks for your support
