Looking Back and Forth 4.10.24
Y2 Friday 4th October 2024– Looking Back & Forth
Looking back:
This week we have discussed the achievements of Louis Braille and Sky Brown and why people think they are heroes. In maths, we have estimated on a number line and compared numbers using the less than and more than symbols. In English, we have begun planning biographies and collected the information we need to include.
Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- I liked doing maths and using ‘crocodile’ symbols x3 chn
- I enjoyed learning about Sky Brown because I want to find out how she won a medal x 13 chn
- I liked doing art because I liked using colour in my design. x 3 chn
- I liked learning about Louis Braille and his achievements. x3 chn
Family discussion questions:
- This week we have discussed how important exercise is. Discuss with your child the different types of exercise you enjoy and how it makes you feel.
Are there any types of exercise you enjoy doing as a family?
Looking forward:
Next week we will use our plans to write biographies and will continue our art work for Exhibition.
Reminders
Reading books will be changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.
PE is on Fridays. Please ensure school PE kit is worn.
Reading books should be brought into school every day. Children’s books will be changed weekly.
Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading, children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. (Well done to the 4 children who completed the challenge this week for the first time and the 5 children who have now completed it for the second time!) Please record this in reading diaries so we can track their progress.
Thank you for your continued support
