Y2 Friday 8th November 2024– Looking Back & Forth
Looking back: This week we have enjoyed our new text – The River and the lovely illustrations. In maths, we have been explored related facts using the number bonds to 10 we already know. In science, we have discussed objects and the materials they are made of.
Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- I’ve enjoyed maths and finding number bonds to 100. X3 chn
- I enjoyed learning about different houses.
- I liked helping sell Poppies at playtime x4 chn
- I liked finding patterns in number bonds to 10.
- I liked read the book The River.
- I enjoyed partitioning numbers to add to 10 in maths.
- I enjoyed history and finding out about different types of houses. X10 chn
- I liked learning about different materials in science.
Family discussion questions:
How many different materials can you find around your house? Can you find any glass, brick, wood, plastic or any other interesting materials?
Looking forward:
Next week we will be looking closely at the features of our new text- The River and the language used by the author. In maths, we will begin to learn a range of addition strategies. In, history we will begin to discuss the types of homes used in the past.
Reminders
PE is now be on TUESDAYS!. Please ensure school PE kit is worn.
Reading books are changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.
Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. (Well done to children who completed the challenge this week- amazingly two children have completed the challenge 5 times!) Please record any reading at home in reading diaries so we can track their progress.
