Yr 4Looking Back and Forth - Friday 17th May 2024
Friday 17th May – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4
Looking back:
This week, the children have finished drafting their twisted narratives. They have been amazing with their writing and really considering how to build tension. I have loved reading their stories and the poor demise of Red Riding Hood. All I would say, is you may not want them to tell you a fairy story just before bedtime!
In maths, we have continued working on fractions, adding and subtracting them this week, in various forms from improper to mixed fractions. It has been great to see the confidence and skills in timestables really helping them in this part of maths.
Questions to ask at home -
- What is a mixed fraction?
- What is an improper fraction?
- What is an integer?
- Who is Odin?
- What day of the week is named after him?
- Who is Thor?
- What day of the week is named after him?
- Who is Frigg?
- What day of the week is named after her?
Children’s highlights of the week
- My Happy Mind work
- P.E.
- Sewing
- Hot maths!
- Being at different music clubs
- Drawing at Mrs Greene’s craft club
- Practising for the rounders tournament
- Being at Goostrey All Stars!
Looking forward:

Homework in Year 4
Maths – Orange sheet

Reading – daily at least 15 mins – remember to take the Acelerated Reader Quizzes
Rockstars – as much as possible 10 mins daily is ideal – at least once a week for 20 mins
Spellings – Mrs Riddell – Please learn them for the test on Wednesday. It is better to look at them for 5 minutes each day than try to learn them all in one night. The children remember them better learnt over the week.
