Reception Looking back and forth week ending 16 July

Hello all and I hope you are enjoying this lovely weather over the weekend!

Tomorrow, as you know, we will be walking to the dairy and enjoying an ice-cream. I think we will need it after our walk as it looks like it will be a warm one. Please make sure your child has a hat and that sunblock is applied.

On Friday the children brought their school books home and you will have read this weeks writing which was their memories of their year at school. The children are getting so confident applying their phonics now. I removed all reading records this week from their book bags and the children chose their own books for the first time to get the feel of what it will be like in Year 1. I would encourage you to do reading with your child over the holiday. The library has a reading challenge and they hold the colour band books too. I will be sending home words for them to practice. If you do a bit each week it will go a long way in retaining their retention of their sound and word knowledge.

On Thursday we will be having a "banquet". Please send in a small snack that they can enjoy mid afternoon. They can dress up if they wish and we will be doing some dancing too.
