Reception looking back and forth week ending 23 April 2021
Hello all
It was lovely to see everyone back this week looking rested and those sniffs and sniffle all gone for now.
During the holiday I put 10 eggs into an incubator and they should hatch on Monday. I have warned the children that there may not be chicks inside but if none hatch I will try again.
This week we have done addition sums in Maths and written the number sentences in our books. We have used number lines and 100 boards to identify the numbers higher than 10. We also worked on counting on when adding two groups. We used blocks to help us add up.
We are learning about our immediate surroundings and we took a walk to the junior site for those children who had not been before. Each child then drew a map of the school and labelled it.
Mrs Raven and the children have started a display of the village. The children each drew and then painted themselves and they will be in the display. We will learn more about the landmarks in the village.
In RE we talked about good news stories and all gave an example of something good that had happened to them or their family.
In PE on Tuesday the children did dance with Miss Oakes and today they did athletic skills with Mr Townend.
We continue to read in small groups on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.
