Reception Looking back and forth week ending 25th March 2022

What a beautiful weekend it is and what a lovely week it has been at school! We have done all our learning outside this week and really enjoyed our time in the sunshine.

This week we learnt about caves: how they are formed, what lives in them and what stalactites and stalacmites are. A good way to remember which is which is that tights fall down and mites crawl up. We build a cave outside and took the torches out and well just had a great time chatting and playing in there. I also told them about our twin school, Elizabethfontein in Clanwilliam South Africa, and how it is based on a mountain pass. There are cave paintings all around the area. We discussed what people used to make the cave paintings. Our writing was making a list of all the things you could take for a night in a cave. Hot chocolate and marshmellows were very popular "essential" items.

In Maths we continued with capacity and had a wonderful time exploring water using many different sized containers. As you will now know in RE this week, with Mrs Cuttle and Mrs Hughes, the children made Easter gardens.

Lunchtimes were spent on the field with the whole school playing out. Lovely to see them altogether. Whole school assemblies have also started on Friday afternoons.

Next week we are learning about utilites underground.

Just a reminder that I am away on residential 3 days next weeks. I will be checking my emails and will be in touch with school so please don't hesitate to contact me if you need too.

Please check your child's school bag for a Mather's Day card!
