Reception looking back and forth week ending 29 April 2022
Friday 29 April 2022- Looking Back and Forth in Reception
Looking Back – what we have done this week
This week we wrote letters which we hope to post next week. The writing for a purpose has been most successful and they are excited to get their letters sent off.
We looked at different types of houses and learnt their names: - semi-detached, detached, terraced, flat, caravan, boat house, tepee and igloo. We are hoping to have a campervan or caravan brought to school so we can have a look around inside. If you have one or know of anyone that would be willing to have 30 children have a look (not at the same time!) please let me know. I am hoping that my neighbour will bring his Airstream.
In maths we worked on one more. We also continue to do numbers each morning and problem solving daily. Sharing three ways proved tricky this week.
In RE we heard the story of The Good Samaritan and then acted it out.
This is what the children said they enjoyed this week:
Pond dipping – this was very exciting as we found frog spawn and a newt. They also saw pond skaters, water fleas, Ramshorn and Pond snails, a huge water beetle and lots of other little creatures.
PE – continued with ball skills
Playing on the field and in the woods
Playing with friends!
Ocarina – today we were amazing again with the notes. I will teach them a new note next week.
Painting
Reading
Looking forward to next week’s learning:
We will be starting our new Literacy Counts unit and the writing will be based around the story The Extraordinary Gardener.
