Reception looking back and forth week ending 9th September 22
Hello all
The first week at school has been so happy, exciting, busy and tiring. The children settled from the first moment they arrived and we were so impressed with how they have embraced school routine. Long may it last!
This week I have assessed their phonic (sound) knowledge and as I am sure you have noted I have started to do formal phonic teaching this week. They are enjoying the stories and songs. I will discuss the phonics in more detail at parents evening on Monday 12th at 5:30 and also at the phonics session on 26th September at 5:30pm.
So what have we been up to in class? I am guessing "nothing" which is frequently what they will tell you!
They have....
- played well together
- enjoyed bike Friday
- had PE which was all about driving cars (Mr Biggs did the morning session and I ran the afternoon session)
- painted a picture of themselves and used plastic letters to spell out their names and then decorated them
- had break time with the Year 1 and 2 classes and the morning group had assembly twice with the other infant classes
- had a few minutes with me on a computer as I have started the official baseline.
- learnt some basic class rules and boundries
- got to know their going home places
- (morning group) enjoyed lunch very much and have confidently chosen their meal option and then carried their trays to the table and later taken them to the clearing trolley
- played on the field
- seen the very strange, and we now know very rare, fungi that appeared on the bark play area this week. We googled this strange "thing" and discovered it is called Devil's Fingers. https://fb.watch/ftUEa62VhW/
- listened well at story time
I look forward to seeing you at the class meeting on Monday 12th at 5:30pm.
