Reception weekly up date 9th October 22

Hello all

Another busy week has flown past and I find it hard to believe we only have two weeks left of this half term.

The Exhibition is on for you to visit on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th of the last week. Friday 21st is an INSET day so no school. The teachers have a training day.

Our class social is on Thursday 20th at 5:30pm. Please let me know if you can make it as I have a few families I have not heard back from and don't wish to leave anyone out. I shall get the list outside the class tomorrow morning for you to fill in. Siblings are also invited so let me know what they would like as a filling for their sandwich. The cost will be £2.50 pre child.

So this week we are working hard on our sounds and doing lots of blending. I am seeing lots of progress with them remembering  the sounds, using the actions and trying to blend sounds into words.  

Our writing this week was labelling a mushroom and they are using intial sounds well and some can hear more sounds in the words. 

This week I introduced them to writing on the white boards. This was very grown up and they were all very focused. 

The preperation for the exhibition is going well and mushrooms are still very exciting! The mushrooms are so well camouflaged so its very exciting when we spot some in the playground or in the woods. 

In maths we were matching number to item. We have heard all the number stories to 10. Hopefully it is helping those who are not 100% secure. 

Buddy time was fun and I managed to get some of their photos taken for the hot air balloon display in class and this doubles up as our birthday display.
