Reception weekly update Friday 15th November
Hello
On Monday we sat quietly for 2 minutes at 11am for Remembrance Day. Each child coloured in a poppy for their “Knowledge and Understanding of the World” book.
This week we have been learning about Diwali as part of our celebration theme. I told them the story of Rama and Sita and we have done a sequencing activity of the story. Everyone has tried their best to do some writing to caption each picture. There is a short video on BBC bite size which they may like to rewatch with you.
We collected more apples from “our” tree and spent Thursday morning chopping up the apples with our volunteer Mrs Lane. Mrs Latham, our school chef, kindly cooked them for us and on Friday we made apple crumble.
On Wednesday the children each made a diva lamp using clay. These will dry out over the next few weeks and then we can decorate them.
We have begun to learn the Christmas nativity songs which they seem to be picking up really quickly.
Thank you all for attending the parents evening appointments.
Reminders for next week:
Tuesday is PE day
We are tree planting on Tuesday - send in wellies or spare shoes in a labelled bag please. I have a few pairs of spare wellingtons if anyone needs a pair.
Thursday is our extra sports session so PE kit may be worn all day.
Thursday is also book changing day.
