Reception weekly update week ending 13th January 2023
Hello all
The children ahve worked so hard this week in all areas. We learnt all about sight and how the ye works. We also looked at some optical illusions and hopefully they showed you their illusion that they made at school. Today they have made binoculars in class and used them to find loads of things outside.
This week we have learnt 4 new sounds: long oo (point to the moon),short oo (open and close the book), ar (jiggle fingers to make stars twinkling) and or (honk the horn in the car).
This week the writing focus has been about things they like and don't like. They each wrote a few sentences.
In maths we are continuing to learn how write our numbers correctly and we worked on addition and carefully adding two numbers counters.
On Thursday we did PHSCE and read the book Red Rockets and Rainbow Jelly. The children then talked about liking different things to their friends and knowing that this was ok.
In PE on Tuesday they used big balls and did lots of controlled activities with the balls. The most tricky was throwing up and clapping before the ball came down. That was fun to watch!
Next week we are learning about the sense of hearing.
