Reception weekly update week ending 31 April 2023

Don't blink as before you know it they will be in year 1! This year is flying past and we find ourselves in the Easter holiday already. 

This week has been a flurry of excitement about the tea party which as you will now know was a huge success and enjoyed by all. The children did the flower arrangements themselves which looked beautiful on the tables. 

We did in fact do some learning this week. Our writing focus was based around the story called Glub! This is about a fish called Lucky who gets trapped in the pipes under the sink. They each had to write what they thought Lucky was thinking! 

in phonics we continue with reading and writing words with adjacent consonants (blends). Also leaning new tricky words - one, little, were and there. 

In maths we built on our knowledge of 3D shape names and properties. They seem to like the word cylinder! 

Next term PE will be on a Friday.

Our half term theme is All Around Me. I am arranging a visit to HC library - details to follow.
