we 11th May Year 1
Hi All,
In English time this week we will be beginning a new unit of work on poetry. Funny poems to be precise, ask your child if they can recall any of the lines. In one of the poems we will be looking at has rhyming couplets. So if you have a chance to look at poems in other books that have the rhyming couplets that would be great. Alternatively you can’t go wrong with a Julia Donaldson story. They have lots of rhyming couplets that your child will be able to see and enjoy.
In maths we will be continuing our work on place value with numbers to 100. We will be looking at the <>= symbols and using them in problems using numbers up to 100.
If you would like to support your child with their maths work. You could keep practising counting in 10s, 5s and 2s.
In the afternoons the children will be looking at Judaism in R.E. on Monday. In science the children will be exploring the world of plants.
