we 9th December Year 1
Hi All,
In Literacy this week we will continuing our new unit about Letters and Letter writing – we will be using a book called ‘Dear Greenpeace’.
In maths we will be completing our unit on money – coins in particular. We have taken longer on this as it is tricky, especially getting to grips with the values of the different coins and how to make certain amounts. If you could let your child explore coins with you – looking at different ways to make amounts. Not only is it great fun, but will also support your child’s learning in school.
This week we did not have time to talk about our highlights as we had been on our fantastic trip to Tatton Mansion. We will give you our highlights.
- Watching the children walk down to the farm – bubbling with excitement.
- Meeting all the farm animals – Blossom the horse, Murtle and Tilly the pigs with their piglets.
- Seeing Father Christmas – he was very funny and the children were captivated (so were the adults).
- Tracy our guide, who had special singing glasses and a radio to Father Christmas.
- Looking out for Rudolph on his flying lesson.
- Feeding carrots to Prancer and Dancer the reindeer in the field.
- Sitting in the story room – listening to a Christmas story – complete with special magic dust! (red glitter).
- Walking to the mansion and having our lunch – by 12 o’clock the children were ravenous.
- Walking through the grand house – looking at all the Roald Dahl story inspired rooms (Charlie and the chocolate factory was magical and thre BFG huge!).
- Meeting Mother Christmas and locking Mrs Weeks in the Chokey!
It was a fantastic trip and well worth a family visit this Christmas.
