Week Ending Friday 20th January - Year 3

What a fantastic week we have had!

I Sing Pop has been wonderful this week. Every child has joined in and learned 7 songs, with actions! What an acheivement to be able to learn all of that in just a few short sessions and to sing together as one big group. All the adults are so proud of the children's accomplishment this week and we can't wait for the concert on Thursday, as well as being able to buy the CD we recorded! Amazing!

In our other lessons, we have been further exploring the Romans in our topic sessions, looking at what they ate and we have even made our own invitations to a Roman dinner party. This week we are continuing the theme of food whilst we begin to think about how food in Italy has changed since the Roman times. We will be comparing our menu from last week to the menu of a real Italian restaurant before moving on to design our own Italian inspired cuisine. There will be a small homeowkr given for this on Monday, so keep an eye out as it may involve some help from parents.

In Science, we have also been on a foody theme, taking a look at what we should be eating to keep healthy. We are all now very aware of what a balanced diet is, as well as why we need to eat certain foodgroups to keep healthy. We are moving on slightly in our learning this week to design a healthy meal for our client, Joe, who has been asking us as his personal trainers to help him stay healthy.

In maths, we will be looking at fractions with Mrs Tedd and Miss Aspey together at the start of the week, and in our weekly geometry lesson this week we will be looking at 2D shapes, as well as what types of angles we can see in them.

In English, we will be looking at quite a few different thinks this week:

- Grammar: Nouns and contractions

- Writing: Conjunctions and punctuating speech

- Reading: The Theives of Ostia (whole class) and our Roald Dahl books in groups.

We will also be having PE and French, so make sure your PE kit is in school and that you've been brushin up on your French pronunciation.

Have a good weekend!

Miss Aspey
