Y1 Friday 13th December 2024– Looking Back & Forth
Looking back:
We have had a great week in Year 1- everyone has worked so hard this week and have enjoyed rehearsing for our Christmas performance.
In D&T we have begun our quilling project and looked at different moving books and pictures.
We have consolidated our autumn 2 learning by completing quizzes in maths and science.
In PHSE we have looked at the story of ‘Ten Little Pirates’ to help us understand that games can be played by everyone regardless of their gender.
Year 1 – Pupils’ Highlights:
√ Showing how well we have learnt our spellings in our spelling quiz.
√ Looking at moving books to see what features they have to help us when making our moving pictures.
√ Planning our instructions for how to trap a witch.
√ Quilling for our Christmas cards.
√ Consolidating our learning this half term through quizzes.
√ Rehearsing for our Christmas performance.
√ Playing team games in PE.
√ Testing materials using lights to see if they are opaque, transparent or translucent.
√ Acting out the Christmas Story in RE.
Family discussion questions:
- What are the different elements to moving pictures and books?
