Y1 Friday 13th September 2019– Looking Back & Forth
Looking back:
This week we have had a lovely first full week in Year 1.
We have looked at labels, lists and captions related to ‘Not a stick’. We have found sticks and made them into objects and wrote about them.
In Maths, we have sorted objects into groups based on size, shape and colour then we have decided our own criteria for sorting them.
We have designed our moon buggies and learnt to colour mix in preparation for painting our finished designs.
Year 1 – Pupils’ Highlights:
√ Colour mixing.
√ Drawing and making our ‘not a stick’ objects.
√ PE with Premier Sport.
√ Designing our moon buggies and making them with K’Nex.
√ Sorting objects into different groups based on size, colour, shape and type.
√ Trying our best hen doing our work.
Family discussion questions:
- What are the features of your moon buggy?
- Can you write a shopping list?
- What labels could you write for a picture of our house? Our holiday?
Looking forward:
Next week we will be using ‘Dangerous’ to write more details captions related to friendship. We will begin to look at our body in Science and in History we will begin to look at space exploration as part of our History and exhibition work.
