Y1 Friday 17th February 2023– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:

In English we have planned and written recount messages in response to the book ‘Major Glad Major Dizzy’.

In Maths we have explored doubles, near doubles before looking at subtraction through using number bonds.

In History we have designed toys for the future, in groups, thinking about what it is made from and how it works.

In Science we have consolidated our learning by completing a quiz.

As part of PHSE, we learnt about Chinese New Year, played instruments, sang songs and danced a huge dragon around the hall to the beat of a song. It was great fun!

We enjoyed our marble jar treat this afternoon- 35 marbles earnt this half term!

Homework in Year 1

  • Goostrey Parish Council need your children’s ideas!

The Parish Council are considering possible ideas for improving the children’s playground on Boothbed Land.

We have created a design as a class but each child wanted to create their own. I have asked that the deadline be extended to Monday 27th February to allow for this to be done over the holiday, if you wish to take part. I have attached the leaflet from Goostrey Parish Council and set no homework for this Friday- I hope this helps.

  • Please continue to read every night. If this could be recorded in reading diaries so I can track progress for our 14 day Reading Challenge. Reading Challenge’s will be awarded on Friday’s after checking Reading Diaries on Thursday after school. If you have any questions please ask.
