Y1 Friday 17th May 2019– Looking Back & Forth
Looking back:
This week we have edited and published our ‘Moon Dog’ story in our neatest handwriting. In Maths we have made equal groups and used this to help us sharing amounts.
We have explored our school environment in Geography and asked questions to find out more information about past events relating to the moon landing.
In Science we have made a pictogram to show which wild plants we found in our school grounds.
Year 1 – Pupils’ Highlights:
√ Publishing our ‘Moon Dog’ story.
√ Finding new words by adding the ‘un’ prefix.
√ Making equal groups through sharing.
√ Identifying physical features of our school and showing them on an aerial map.
√ Balancing and controlling our movements in PE.
√ Completing our pictogram to show which wild flowers and plants we have in our school grounds.
√ Observing the changes to our bean plants and measuring how much they have grown.
Family discussion questions:
- What was the most common wild flower we found?
- Can you share any odd numbers equally?
- Can you think of any words then use the ‘un’ prefix to change the words meaning?
Looking forward:
We will be looking at poems with repeated patterns and rhymes before writing our own poem with repetition. We will explore Goostrey Village and the Bongs; this will help us to draw a journey line in Geography.
