Y1 Friday 22nd March 2019– Looking Back & Forth
Looking back:
We have looked at the ‘Everywhere Bear’ book and written character descriptions to help the class in the book to find their missing bear. In Maths, we continued to count in 2s, 5s and 10s.
In Science, we tested if materials were bendy, waterproof, transparent and absorbent.
In Geography, we identified the world’s continents and oceans using atlases.
Year 1 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Writing character descriptions about the ‘Everywhere Bear’.
- Doing different types of rolls in PE.
- Counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.
- Testing materials in Science.
- Learning about different megastructures. (where they are, when they were made and what they are made out of)
- Using an atlas to find continents and oceans.
- Finishing our weaving.
Family discussion questions:
- Can you name any oceans?
- Can you name any megastructures and where they are?
- What does a multiple of 2 end in?
Looking forward:
We will be looking at the features of a letter and using this information to write a letter to the class in the ‘Everywhere Bear’ book. In Maths, we will be looking at length and height.
In Science, we will be making predictions about the strength of materials and testing them.
