Looking back:
In English we have finished our detective story.
In Maths we have consolidate our learning of Place Value to 50 and begun to compare height and length.
In Science we have sorted animals into one of six groups based on their features and characteristics.
In Art and Design and D&T, we have begun to make our recycled bird houses.
Year 1 – Pupils’ Highlights:
√ Hitting tennis balls between partners in tennis in PE.
√ Continuing to say and repeat animal names in French
√ Comparing heights and lengths.
√ Solving reasoning problems related to place value.
√ Working hard to read and write words including all split digraphs.
√Sorting animals into groups based on their characteristics.
√ Practicing skills on a paint programme using Purple Mash on the laptops.
√ Constructing our bird houses
Family discussion questions:
- Why is the order of a story important?
- What spelling is correct – theise, theyse, these?
- What signs of spring can you see?
Looking forward:
Next week we will be practicing reading different sounds by exploring phoneme spotters and games.
In Maths we will measure length using multilink before using a ruler to measure in cms.
In Art and Design and Technology we will continue to make our birdhouses.
Homework in Year 1
- Phonics activity booklet sent home.
- Please continue to read every night. If this could be recorded in reading diaries so I can track progress for our 14 day Reading Challenge. Reading Challenge’s will be awarded on Friday’s after checking Reading Diaries on Thursday after school. If you have any questions please ask.
