Y1 Friday 29th March 2019– Looking Back & Forth
Looking back:
We have had a very special visitor in Year 1 this week- The Everywhere Bear has been found in Goostrey!! Unfortunately, he has gone back to his school now.
We have looked at the features of letters and written to Class One in the ‘Everywhere Bear’ book to tell them that we have found their bear and we will be sending him back. In Maths, we have estimated and measured length and height using multilink cubes, paper clips and dominoes. We then measured short lengths in centimetres using a ruler. We have begun to compare mass and will continue this next week.
In Science, we did an investigation we predicted and tested the strength of materials.
Year 1 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Comparing weights using balances.
- Balancing skills in PE.
- Writing our letters about the ‘Everywhere Bear’.
- Estimating and measuring length.
Family discussion questions:
- What did the ‘Everywhere Bear’ get up to at school this week?
- Which material is the strongest? Why?
- Which words would you use to compare height and length?
Looking forward:
We will be editing and publishing our letters. In Maths, we will be continue to look at weight and capacity.
In DT, we will be printing to make patterns.
