Y1 Friday 3rd May 2019– Looking Back & Forth
Looking back:
This week we have looked at the ‘Moon Dog’ book. We have rewritten the story thinking about the beginning, problem and resolution. In Maths we have explored multiplication through repeated addition and arranged cubes into arrays.
We have started to write our ‘bean diary’. We have looked at what beans need to grow then we have used this information to plant beans and different herbs.
Year 1 – Pupils’ Highlights:
√ Writing the story of the ‘Moon Dog’.
√ Beginning our bean diaries and planting our seeds and beans.
√ Using cubes to make arrays.
√ Team games in PE.
√ Looking at where we live and what we can see around our home.
√ Finding out which animals were sent into space and how the space race began.
Family discussion questions:
- What does a plant need to grow? What is the process of planting seeds?
- Where do you live? What is your address?
- Can you remember what animals when into space or orbited the earth?
Looking forward:
We will be drawing arrays to solve multiplication through ‘lots of’. We will continue to explore the ‘Moon Dog’ book from the perspective of the Little Moon Dog.
We will be hunting for wild flowers in Science and working together to construct a timeline for space travel in History.
