Y1 Friday 4th October 2024– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:

What a week in Year 1- brilliant effort and learning by all!

In Maths we have counted on before finding one more of a given number. We have begun to count backwards using number tracks.

In English we have written facts about Frida Kahlo- ready for exhibition.

In Science we have put our senses to the test.

In Art we have used colouring pencils and water colours to create masterpieces for exhibition.

We have working with Miss Goldsmith to create silhouettes based on Peter Pan. The whole class now want to be an artist when they grow up.

Family discussion questions:

  • One more than ___ is ____. 9 is one more than ____ .
  • What signs of autumn can you see outside?
  • Should the words ‘Chester Zoo’ and ‘Frida Kahlo’ have a capital letter? Why?
  • How are you an ‘everyday’ hero?

Looking forward:

Next week we will continue to publish our work for exhibition.

In Maths we will be finding one less than a given number. We will be comparing numbers using language of ‘same, fewer, more’ before moving onto the language of ‘more than, less than and equal to’.
