Y1 Friday 6th March 2020– Looking Back & Forth
Looking back:
In English we wrote instructions for how to trap a fairy. In Maths we will found one more and one less and compared numbers.
In Geography we found megastructures on a map of the world and looked at which continents they are in. We explored when and how the megastructures were built in History.
Year 1 – Pupils’ Highlights:
√ Balancing and moving activities in PE.
√ Instructing each other to wash our hands.
√ Finding the location of megastructures on a map of the world.
√ Comparing numbers in Maths.
√ Writing instructions for how to trap a fairy.
√ Learning alternative pronunciations for sounds in Phonics.
√ Learning and writing facts about megastructures from across the world.
√ Starting designs for our clay tiles.
Family discussion questions:
- How many continents can you remember?
- Can you instruct someone on how to wash their hands?
- Which symbol would you use for this? 24 ___ 42 < or >? Can you explain why?
Looking forward:
We will be editing and publishing our instructions in English. In Maths we will look at ordering numbers and counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.
In Science we will be looking at the structure and characteristics of animals and sorting them into groups based on this.
