Y1 Friday 7th February 2020– Looking Back & Forth
Looking back:
We have written about weather in Antarctica and thought about what Captain Scott felt on his expedition. We have looked at partitioning numbers into tens and ones to make adding easier.
In Science, we have sorted clothes based on what you would wear in summer and winter and why these are suitable.
What a performance from the whole school during the POP UK concert! Wow!
Year 1 – Pupils’ Highlights:
√ partitioning numbers into tens and ones in Maths.
√ split diagraph spotting in Phonics.
√ taking part in the POP UK concert.
√ using pastels to create texture on our drawing of a polar bear.
√ dancing in PE.
√ writing facts about the conditions in Antarctica.
√ looking at clothes to decide which are most suitable for winter.
Family discussion questions:
- How can you partition to find the answer to 11+3?
- What would you wear in winter to make sure you are warm enough?
- What are the conditions in Antarctica like?
Looking forward:
Next week we will be continuing to learn methods to help us when adding in Maths. We will be consolidating our learning in History and Science.
In Art, we will continue to layer materials to make a collage and use pastels to draw lines to create texture for our polar bear creations.
