Y1 Friday 8th February 2019 – Looking Back & Forth
Looking back:
This week, we explored spring themed poetry and looked for signs of spring during our ‘Wild School Day’ and used this to inspire our own spring poems. We looked further at partitioning to make adding easier by making 10 and used our knowledge of number bonds to help us.
In Art, we have used Kandinsky to inspire our season’s artwork.
Year 1 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Continuing our Kandinsky artwork.
- Looking for signs of spring on ‘Wild School Day’
- Writing our spring imagery poems.
- Learning about how animals survive in winter.
- Using tens frames and part whole models to help with partitioning and making 10.
Family discussion questions:
- What is the matching pair to 12 to make 20?
- Can you explain what migrate and hibernate means? Which animals migrate? Which animals hibernate?
- What are the signs of spring?
Looking forward:
Next week, we will be looking at different practical equipment we can use when subtracting and different methods to help us. We will be using our senses and the facts we have learnt about winter to help us to write senses poetry.
We will continue with our ‘Kandinksy inspired’ artwork.
